About Safe Escape

What is Safe Escape?

The mission of Safe Escape is to provide families education, information and access to adapted evacuation products so that they may plan for, practice and safely evacuate children with health care needs or disabilities during any fire, emergency or natural disaster. The vision of Safe Escape is to empower families to create and utilize specific, customized emergency evacuation plans, while reducing the risk of secondary injury or death for children with health care needs or disabilities.

Safe Escape was developed by the Community Education and Child Advocacy team at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Indiana. The development of this program was made possible by generous funding from the US Department of Homeland Security, Assistance to Firefighters Fire Prevention and Safety Grants Program. The Indiana University Board of Trustees maintains all intellectual property rights to this program and its related content.
